The Stevie Awards for Women in Business is an international competition recognizing the accomplishments of outstanding women executives, business owners, and the organizations they run. The Awards are produced by the creators of the prestigious American Business Awards. The Stevies are widely considered to be the world's premier business awards. The final results of the competition will be announced at an awards dinner at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in New York City on Friday, November 12 and will be broadcast live across the U.S. on the Business TalkRadio Network.

More than 1,200 nominations were submitted this year, a record total for the competition, for consideration in 54 categories by organizations in Australia, Austria, Bulgaria, Canada, France, Germany, Japan, Israel, Malaysia, Mexico, Sri Lanka, Turkey, the United Kingdom, and the USA.

Henker remarked, “I’m honored that my hard work in the community has been recognized by the Talbot County Chamber of Commerce, especially considering I’m a fairly new member. That says a lot for the Talbot County Chamber as they truly are an “open” organization and all new members are welcomed immediately. I’ve lived around the country and have been exposed to many Chambers; however, I am very impressed with the Talbot County Chamber from its web site, to its programs, to its staff, to its strong volunteer base and to its level of communication to members.”

Regarding being named a finalist in the 2010 Stevie Awards for Women in Business, she says, “I honestly don’t have words to describe what this means to me. To be named a finalist in the most prestigious awards program in the U.S. and in some cases around the world, it’s like being told I’ve have been nominated by the Academy Awards for an Oscar. Also, what a tremendous opportunity for the wonderful work of the Frederick Douglass Honor Society and the YMCA of Talbot County to be recognized on an international level! I had an incredible experience working with a highly professional committee run by chair, Megan Cook; my co-chair Pam Black was with me every step of the way; and the final marketing pieces would not have happened without the design help of Tim Young of Eclectic Graphics or web development of Joel Shilliday of Diving Dog Productions. All the committee members would provide support in a moment’s notice and collectively had such a high level of commitment, it was the true recipe for success.”
